Senior Pastor Lester D. Sedam II

In the Center of God’s Divine Will
Did you know that
God has a specific will for your life? As a Christian of over 30 years, I learned
that the Lord had a specific direction for my life. I have had the joy
of discovering his direction for me and my family ever since.
It all began January
20th, 1975, when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I had
no idea where this salvation decision would take me.
My wife, Sandy, and
I were living in Stillwater, Pennsylvania with our two small children,
fulfilling a dream of living in the country in our own farmhouse while
I worked for the Pennsylvania Game Commission as a Forest Technician.
We were faithfully attending a small country church in Benton and serving
the Lord to the best of our abilities. I will never forget the Missionary
Conference that we were having in our church in March of 1980.
A Missionary from
Argentina was preaching in the Sunday Service when the Lord spoke to my
heart about becoming a pastor and serving Him in a full time capacity.
We immediately put our house on the market and made plans to attend Bible
College.
Our "dream
house" sold along with all of our earthly possessions and we set
out by faith to attend college in central Florida. I enrolled in the 1981
Spring Semester at Heritage College and finished my Bachelors Degree in
May of 1984 while attending Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL.
Through prayer and
God given courage we determined to start a church in the town of Westerly,
Rhode Island. Our family had grown from 4 to 6 when we departed Jacksonville
for Westerly and one year later the Lord would bless us with our fifth
child to complete our family.
We began weekly Bible
studies in the local YMCA and in seven weeks held our first meeting in
a rented church building. Thirteen years later, after much labor for the
Lord, we were able to build our own 14,400 square foot building in Ashaway,
RI.
It never ceases to
amaze me what happens when you are in the center of God's Divine
Will. The Journey of Faith continues and each day brings fresh assurances
to "5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
