For health care, education, and economic growth, reliable and affordable energy, especially electricity, is critical. Electricity is required in health clinics for the operation of medical equipment, vaccine and drug refrigeration, and illumination, but a  survey in six Asian and African countries showed that half of the health facilities have no or limited access to electricity.
